Character's Age: 16
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. N/A

Abilities

Character's Canon Abilities: Because of his alien heritage. Teddy has a variety of abilities. The most important is his ability to shape-shift; which lets him impersonate people, alter the appearance of his body-such as create claws, wings, etc.-and copycat other abilities. His shape-shifting also acts as a defense when he’s unable to protect himself by rearranging his internal organs so no enemies can kill him. He also has supernatural strength and a healing ability. While his healing isn’t on par with Wolverine’s instant healing factor, it works pretty quickly in its own right.

Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? N/A

Weapons: None.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.

Character History: Most of it is here.

In addition, I’m going to give a run down on a couple of things the wiki page left out. For starters, in the Young Avengers’ special issue Jessica Jones interviews the team for an exclusive for the Daily Bugle. When she interviews Teddy, he tells her about a time before the Young Avengers were established and he was feeling like an outsider compared to other boys. He’d just discovered his shape-shifting ability and he decided to tell his best friend Greg Norris. But Greg’s reaction wasn’t what he thought it would be. In fact, Greg took the news a little too well. He convinced Teddy to use his ability to impersonate the Hulk, Johnny Storm and Tony Stark. One day the boys learned of the fall of the Avengers and Greg had Teddy impersonate Tony Stark to get them into the abandoned Avengers Mansion. But things go downhill when Greg tells Teddy he’s going to steal some of the Avengers’ tapes and sell them. They argue and eventually Teddy shifts his hand into a giant claw and threatens Greg with it. Greg runs off and Teddy stays behind to brood. While doing so he’s surprised by the appearance of Iron Lad who asks him to join the Young Avengers.

In the Young Avengers’ latest storyline, Children’s Crusade, Teddy gets knocked unconscious and taken hostage by the Sons of the Serpent, the team’s villains of the week. This causes Teddy’s boyfriend Billy to become enraged and he loses a grip on his magic and knocks the enemies into a comatose state. When the Avengers try to take Billy into their custody, Billy storms off and Teddy attempts to calm him down. When Captain America convinces Billy to come stay at the Avenger’s Mansion, Teddy tags along to support him. But the rest of the Young Avengers break them out of the mansion and then Magneto shows up asking for their help finding the Scarlet Witch, Billy and Tommy’s possible mother.

This meeting is disrupted by the Avengers and a fight breaks out until Billy uses his magic to teleport the Young Avengers and Magneto to Transia, the Scarlet Witch’s birthplace. They are then surprised by the appearance of Pietro, the Scarlet Witch’s brother, who uses his super speed to carry Billy over his shoulder and race away, leaving Teddy and the others behind. While they race to catch up, Pietro races back and tries to attack Magneto but instead kills a girl who looks like his sister. But the girl turns out to be a Doombot, leading everyone to believe that the Scarlet Witch is being held capture by Dr. Doom.

Point in Canon: Teddy is being taken from the end of issue 2 of Children’s Crusade which is explained in the last paragraph above.

Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A

Character Personality: Teddy is your average teenage boy…with the exception that he’s gay and a shape-shifting alien. Needless to say Teddy had strong insecurities about not fitting in before he joined the Young Avengers. As most guys do, he tried to hide his uniqueness by playing sports and striving to be accepted into the popular crowd. It wasn’t until he was asked to join the Young Avengers that he began to feel accepted and comfortable with himself. He was finally surrounded by people he could relate to, which did wonders to boost his self confidence. He’s just a general all around good guy; described by Kate as “all sweetheart” because he’s usually the most considerate of the group. His sense of humor tends to jump between funny and sarcastic, depending on his mood, and he tends to use it to defuse situations or to even get his point across.

At the same time, as nice as he is, Teddy has a slight temper issue, which is sometimes unfortunate because he’s not above using his super strength to damage things. Tie that in with his extreme stubbornness and tendency to not listen to others when he’s determined to do something, and he can be seen as a bit of a loose canon. Growing up to a single mother, Teddy is a very independent person; especially now that he has no parental figure to look after him. A big source of his frustration and anger comes from the fact that the life he’s lived and the women he believed was his mother was all a lie. He’s confused about who he’s supposed to be and has no way of finding out because his parents are dead and half the time the Skrulls are trying to kill him or take him to their planet.

The most stable aspect of his life is also the most unstable-his job as a superhero and member of the Young Avengers. He’s closest to the people of the team and considers them his family. They are the people he depends on when things look bleak and, likewise, he’s also there for them, helping anyway he can. It’s, in big part, because of them that he no longer feels like he has to hide aspects of himself and is very open with people about who he is and his relationship with Billy. Like the rest of his team, Teddy fells strongly about saving people and using his abilities for good. He wants nothing more then to prove himself to be a true hero along with the rest of his team. He is a very loyal person and expects loyalty and trust in return; but he’s not naïve and can generally see through people’s acts. In his “line of work” it’s best to be at least a little suspicious of most things. Teddy also has quite the protective streak and there is little he wouldn’t agree to face if it will help his loved ones in anyway or keep them safe.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A

Character Plans: Teddy’s first step would probably be to find out all he can about Siren’s Port and what happened to his team. Once he gets his bearings he’ll probably settle into an apartment and maybe see about going to school since it’s something familiar. He’ll reunite with Billy and maybe Magneto and that’ll be good because familiar faces are awesome, especially when one of them is his boyfriend’s. Besides that, he might look into being a Greeter and he’ll definitely take up his super hero mantle if he sees anyone in trouble.

Appearance/PB: His normal appearance. His Hulkling form.

Writing Samples

First Person Sample [A face appears on the screen, frustration and confusion clearly showing in a pair of blue eyes. It would be an ordinary face of a teenaged boy with ruffled, blonde hair if not for the fact that the said face is a deep green.]

Umm…okay. Billy? I think your magic is on the fritz or something because I don’t think we’re in Transia anymore. Yeah, I know, lame Wizard of Oz reference is lame but it’s all I got at the moment. [He chuckles nervously.]

Billy? Eli? Guys…? Man, please don’t tell me we’ve been separated! Okay Teddy, think. First things first, can anyone tell me where I am? A city name would be nice, or the country; anything really. [A green, clawed finger rises to scratch his head.]

So, yeah, that’s about it. [The feed shuts off.]

Third Person Sample Teddy sat on the bleachers in his school’s gym and watched the basketball game; absentmindedly remembering the short time he’d been on the team, trying his hardest to fit in with the other guys. He sat in the middle of the highest row, the furthest from the court; but even from that distance he could see Greg running up and down the field, guarding his opponent. After their falling out Teddy hadn’t spoken to Greg at all, and what he found slightly surprising was that his old “best friend” had never tried to mess with him. Though he supposed Greg thought he’d use his power to hurt him or something if he tried anything. It’s bad conduct to mess with a guy who has powers.

These days, he couldn’t even think back on the past without laughing at what a complete idiot he’d been. He shouldn’t have had to jump so many hoops just to get people to like him or believe he’s normal. Yeah, normal, what’s that even mean? Whatever it is, Teddy was sure he’d never meet the requirements. And most of the time he’s happy about that, hell, most of the time he’s even proud of it. He’s a part of a better cliché now anyways and he wouldn’t trade it for the world. The jocks can stow their “normal” and their “popular”.

His thoughts were interrupted by the beeping sound of his cell phone and he flipped it open to glance at the display. It was a text from Billy, official Young Avenger business. Apparently some thugs were robbing a bank downtown. His eyes stopped on the tiny ‘XO’ at the end of the text and his face broke out into a grin. He closed his phone and stood up, throwing a last glance at the court over his shoulder before exiting. He’d finally found a place to belong and they needed him now. Plus, he couldn’t pass up the chance of teasing Billy about being such a girl later on.
