Courfeyrac, for want of more useful occupation, is skipping stones on the lake. He's in his shirtsleeves, the breeze ruffling his auburn hair, and the whole tableau is quite boyishly fetching, but for God's sake don't tell him that.

Musichetta's approach is remarkably quiet, with only a faint rustle from her skirts against the grass to reveal her presence. She waits until she is rather nearer to laugh, "What a marvelous picture! Truly, it seems I have stepped right out of the world and into a painting, or even a story-book; something serialised for the little ones, perhaps."

He tosses the next stone up in the air and catches it again, hardly missing a beat. "With a moral, I suppose?"

"With you as the story's protagonist? Not very likely, my dear."

"An immoral, then." He takes a couple of swings, gauging the angle, and sends the stone skidding out across the ripples, once, twice. "Bah. Losing my touch."

Courfeyrac may be somewhat surprised when one of his stones comes skipping back at him and a figure unfolds from the lake's surface, her eyes shaded by one hand. "Having fun?"

He's been long enough in this place that he barely twitches. "--Actually, yes."

"Excellent," she says and will promptly stroll across the lake to join him at the water's edge. "Any particular reason why you're pitching rocks, or just because?"

"Because," he says patiently, leaning down to pick up another one, "it's fun."

Have a Molly? She's a bit more sober after the incident with Strange, but still, she can appreciate boyishly fetching and smiles. "Tis a pleasant day, sir."

We shall, then! Courfeyrac turns with an easy grin. "It is, isn't it?"

"I did think so." She comes to him, a bit slow as she picks her way down the bank, but still smiling. "I've not seen ye before. Did ye spring up out of the lake, then?"

He laughs. "Romantic as that would be, no. I've been here a while, having come in what I'm told is more or less the usual way. We must just have missed each other."

Bossuet stops beside him, silent for a moment -- his mood today is a quiet one -- and then, with a faint smile, "'lo, Courfeyrac."

"Hullo, yourself." He looks up, quizzical.

"Keeping yourself amused, I hope?"

"That's the idea."
