That song "If" makes me laugh my ass off everytime I hear it because I had to do a dance routine to it AGES ago...yeah that's right, when I was like 8 I took a "street dance" class hahahaaa!
I'm with you though, people need to let go of all that elitist bullshit. Especially people in the Rockabilly/psychobilly "scene" (though I cringe to call it that)I've yet to meet a 'billy that wasn't a stuck-up elitist asshole pipecleaner. Most of them just swan around being more rockabilly than god and don't bother talking to us lesser beings. I suppose that's a bit different than what you were talking about, but meh. Elitism in all it's forms just needs to die already <3
yeah, and any time people are a part of a "scene" there is certain criteria of like what youre allowed to accept and what is really a no-no. thats wot sucks about scenes of any kind, is that for some... its all about being more _______ than thou, which is why i hate it when people take one look at you and lump you into some category.
i'm guilty of writing off most of the pop sector. i think one way to put more of a positive light on most of it is to realize it's not written by britney spears or janet jackson. it's written by power producer hit machines that individually may garner your respect, like kanye west or the neptunes. i think my issue is that there's a lot of music out there to listen to, and not enough time. if they don't care enough to write something important to them, i'm not gonna waste my time listening to it. honestly, i'm just happy when i'm not able to predict the next note or progression in a melody before i've ever even heard it.
i completely agree with that last statement. i also agree that now most pop music is made by these uber-producers instead of "artists", and even though that can sometimes be a really good thing (i.e. garbage), its pretty fucking rediculous that said diva's are being sold for their "talent".
either way, theres always that silver lining, and that touch of grey.
