A Month of Events

I got to thinking the other day....it has been six years this September since Steve first left for Turkey. Five years this September since we both left from Turkey to go to San Antonio. And one year this September since we've been living back in Alabama.

I told him we should have just gotten married in Sept! haha

Anyways, there are a lot of things coming up in the next few months and that makes me happy.

First off, the Autauga County fair is coming up. While I don't get into the rides like I used to, I love to go look at the exhibts and things. And with this fair, it won't take very long. Then there's the Alabama National Fair in October. I love going to that one! Then Spinner's Pumpkin Patch in Prattville (it's like a small fall festival). Then the day after that we're going to Gatlinburg (I'm SUPER happy about that one!!) Marbury's homecoming is after that, in the beginning of November. Then Thanksgiving, and whatever else pops up in November. Then I'll be busting out the Christmas decorations!

Alabama has been doing well, and by doing well I mean winning. I DON'T, however, mean looking good on the field. Because with the teams they have played so far, they should have been doing better.

Marbury...well.......Let's just say Marbury is sucking up the field this year. They have yet to win a game. The cheerleaders are sucking it up pretty bad too. I went to a pep rally this past Friday. I am pretty sure this is the first one I've been to since I graduated. Boy was that nuts! I wouldn't have really considered this to be a pep rally. More like a competition to see which class could scream the loudest and act the dumbest. There was stuff being thrown all over the gym (rolls of toilet paper, etc) while the cheerleaders were cheering on the floor. There were noisemakers of all kinds, and those annoying air horns. It was chaos! The cheerleaders may as well have not even been out on the floor. I soon found out what the yelling and screaming was all about. Apparently they give out a large spirit stick every week. I don't know if anything good comes along with the spirit stick or not (pizza party, etc? or just braggin rights till the next week), but you would have thought that the class who wins the spirit stick would be able to skip class for the rest of the month the way they were losing their minds over that thing! In my opinion, they should set apart a time for the spirit stick competition in the pep rally, instead of having the whole pep rally be one big scream-fest. Kinda like how we used to do a "class yell" cheer at some point, then give away some kinda prize for who was the loudest. It never was that nuts when I was a cheerleader. The students actually yelled the cheers along with us, instead of screaming OVER us! And it just didn't seem right in there without the elementary kids. I was also told that most of the Seniors would just check out before the pep rally and go home. How sad. Where's the school spirit that used to be there?

Anyways, enough ranting. I'm ending this for now.
