Polemic

“Do you think we should have gone with them?” Becky asked anxiously, as she watched the group of people running across the court and out to whatever fate had in store.

“Absolutely not.” Her father’s tone was resolute, the same voice he’d used when she’d begged him for riding lessons when she was six, to go on the school exchange when she was ( Read more... )

Zombies have been a bit of an Idol joke ever since someone won the right to suggest a topic and put up "my zombie harlequin romance." Ever since then, I've felt it my Idol duty to do at least one zombie story per season!

The topic? It certainly made for interesting entries. There's a brilliant poem in the first Idol book that was inspired by it.

Gotta love the zombies.
They cheer you up when you feel down.
My story only leads to zombies.

My husband reads a lot of conspiracy sites and used to be in the TA. He reckons that in the event of an emergency like this, the last people you want to see are the army!

It's meant to be a parallel story to the one I wrote for "Disappear" but I didn't have time to link it earlier. I'm glad it seems to stand on its own regardless.

The really good zombie stories are really about what utter douchebags people become in times of such crises. This is a really good zombie story.

Thank you! I'm seriously considering setting up a blog after Idol to turn this into an ongoing piece. I'm liking the universe I have here enough to want to explore it.

I've built up one extensive universe, and I'm creating a fantasy universe as we speak, so I am probably going to have to do that myself. Lucky for me, I have a truckload of dreamwidth enter codes (Do I need to use those anymore? I should check... eventually...)

I was going to go the Wordpress route. It seems to be that it would be a better way to get a larger audience. I used to have a blogger account (I only left it for LJ because it's not as good at encouraging discussions on the post) and when I had to lock it down, I was surprised by how many followers I had all over the world and that was without promoting it at all. Since Wordpress seems to be where it's at these days, I reckon I could get quite an audience there.

Thank you! I try to keep the focus off zombies and more on how people respond in extreme situations. That's something I find a lot more interesting than gore anyway.
