X-Men: The Last Stand

There were way too many extra characters and not enough character development. I understand the need for all the extras, but still. I wish they'd have given Angel a beefier part. Ben Foster cleans up nicely, yeah? :D

Anyway, since I'm a complete dork, I have my X-Men Marvel Encyclopedia in front of me. Anyone want some comic/movie mutant comparisons?

Rogue:
I was just so disappointed with how they've handled the Rogue character in all three movies - this one especially. She was one of the more popular mutants. According to my book here, her powers/weapons are Ability/Memory absorption through physical contact, Invulnerability, Superhuman Strength, and Flight. Now the last three I don't think she got until she permanently absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers. In The Last Stand I kinda hoped that she'd come up behind Phoenix at the end and absorb her powers - she would have made for a much better character then.

Juggernaut/Leech:
This guy's supposed to be Professor Xavier's stepbrother. He's also not a real mutant! His powers come from a ruby. This ruby had an inscription: "Whosoever touches this gem shall possess the power of Cyttorak. Henceforth, you who read these words shall become forevermore a human juggernaut." So yeah, his powers/weapons are Supernatural strength, Invulnerability, and a Telepathy-blocking Helmet. Until I looked up Leech in this book, it bothered me that Juggernaut's powers were cancelled out by Leech (you know, since Juggernaut's not a real mutant.) It says that Leech can cancel out others' superhuman abilities, mutant or otherwise, but only in close proximity.

Callisto:
She's supposed to have an eyepatch! Also, her only power listed here is Superhumanly keen senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. It doesn't say anything about basically being a human Cerebro.

Kid Omega:
This is the spiky guy - or so it says on imdb.com. His only ability listed here is Superhuman intellect. No spiky things. I don't even know of any mutants with the spiky things.

Psylocke:
Imdb.com said she was in the movie. Who was she? One of the bad guys, yeah? She didn't use any powers, did she? She's another popular mutant - a good mutant, in the comics. Her powers/weapons are Telepathy, Mind bolts, and a psionic ability that allows for the creation of a "psychic knife". Now that would have been cool to see.

Arclight:
The clappy-hand chick. I had never heard of her before this movie. Her power was pretty much straight on in the movie - Ability to focus seismic energy through her hands to create shock waves or earth tremors.

Spike:
The main guy Wolverine fought in the woods. His power was straight on as well - Generation of razor sharp bone spikes, which he can launch at high speeds.

Iceman:
Now I was so happy to see him do the ice-over-body thing (I so can't think of what it's called). I wish he could have done the ice slide thing. That would have been sweet.

Angel:
What a waste of a good character. He's actually named Archangel in the comics. His only powers/weapons are Flight(duh), and Accelerated healing factor, which also affects those who come in contact with his blood.

BTW, most of these observations were made in the car on the way home - I wasn't aware of some of the differences until Chris told me about them (and then, like the dork I am, I looked them up.) I really should read some X-Men comics or something.

I think that's all for now. I can't think of anyone else that irritated me. I do wish they'd brought Nightcrawler back. And maybe had Gambit and Jubilee. They should make a Gambit movie - starring Josh Holloway. That would be fantastic.

Anyhoo. That's 60/150.
