so i'm a milwaukee girl, in case you didn't know, and unless you live under a rock, you know that summerfest started wednesday. today - yesterday? - thursday, panic! played the us cellular stage at 10. it was fucking awesome.
i actually went on a whim. i'd actually forgotten they were playing tonight, but a couple of my distant friends were going and i had that moment of 'holy shit, panic!' (no pun intended) & called up my go to concert buddy & so we went, mostly for nostalgia's sake. i wasn't a fan of panic's new album, and she hadn't even heard it, but we'd seen them twice - every time they'd been here - and i guess third time's the charm.
we got there just before neon trees started. they were fine, i guess. mostly i think their lead singer is gay. seriously gay, a flaming homosexual. it was hilarious. all these girls were screaming, and he just seemed so gay. where we were standing was awful, so we moved to the way left & edged our way in, & somehow, right before panic! went on, we got onto the bleachers. we have major concert mojo, me & my concert buddy. when we saw arctic monkeys at the rave in may, we started at the back and worked our way to maybe three rows from the front by the end of the concert. it's nuts.
god, i'm sorry. i'm kind of incoherent right now.
highlights:
•carry on wayward son by kansas - yes, they did cover kansas. it was their first encore song - but i still don't know if it was an encore. they left the stage but -
• careless whisper by george michael - just the saxophone riff. ian played the guitar backwards behind his head while he basically fucked the air, & brendon humped dallon
• brendon was raunchy. man, did he have sex on the brain. he went on and on about how he wanted to fuck all of us, and how deep his love for us was (so deep, oh god, so deep, deeper than you can imagine), & he said fuck pretty much every other word. oh, and:
• he took his shirt off. and his belt. and his pants. this is the one thing i will never forget about tonight. when brendon urie stood on stage wearing nothing but his boxers and singing... damn, i don't remember the song name, but he was singing - holding the mic with one hand and removing his pants with the other. it was their last song, and at the end (by which point ian was all mussed up and nearly shirtless and delicious) they took a bow as a band & then dallon picked up brendon - who had his pants pulled up to his knees, then - bridal style and carried him off stage.
what a night. i'll try to clean this up tmrw.
ETA: the last song was nearly witches!
