We were both young when I first saw you... [for loves_thedark]

Touching down in Tree Hill, Peyton contemplated her next move. It was nine in the morning and that meant Luke would most likely be asleep. Brooke would already have gotten Matthew off to school and she didn't feel like meeting Dean or Sam face to face. A thought crossed her mind about finding Brooke at her store but she had something more important ( Read more... )

Libby had been asleep. Being a night person who happened to at the moment be a bit paranoid in the daytime meant she slept in the day, stayed awake at night. In any case, she'd been sleeping really well when a knock on the door woke her up. She waited a second to see if Lucas would get it. That was when she saw the note:
Went to get breakfast. Be back in a bit

Libby got out of bed, her curly hair wild and totally askew. She had on an old Columbia tee shirt on and a pair of boy shorts. She looked through the peephole, saw a woman who appeared pretty nonthreatening and unlocked the door just in time to hear "I love you, Luke."

"He's not here right but I'll deliver the message," Libby said in response. She was still sleepy sort of catching up and absolutely confused at the moment.

"You're...not Luke," she managed, assessing the situation. So, when he was avoiding her phone calls was he with curly Katie? She couldn't help but get defensive as she sized her competition up. "Are you...with Luke?"

She couldn't stop herself from asking and she regretted not going right to Brooke's. Why Brooke hadn't warned her she couldn't see right now unless Luke had been hiding the bimbo. Or, maybe he had just taken her home the night before.

"No, I'm Libby," she answered. She pushed her hair back from her face, assessing the situation. She could be evil and fudge things a little. Just enough to make the situation seem the way it appeared.

"I'm a friend. I'm staying for a few days," she responded.

Truth it was. If Luke wanted a second chance, she wasn't going to stand in his way. If he didn't, well that was his business to tell her.

"You're Peyton?" she guessed.

"You're Libby," she responded, not wavering. Crossing her arms, she took in a breath. "How do you two know each other?" If she was a friend he'd met through Sam or Dean she knew whose balls were going into a vice, not that she could do anything about -- anything anymore.
