In its third rebuke of the Bush administration's treatment of prisoners, the court ruled 5-4 that the government is violating the rights of prisoners being held indefinitely and without charges at the U.S. naval base in Cuba. The court's liberal justices were in the majority.Soo, further proof that we absolutely need a democratic president in ( Read more... )

Hey you! Thanks for the comment, it was very helpful.
It just feels to me like every point on the LSAT is a completely different level (because it takes me so much just to improve one point) and that each point matters to the admissions. But then I guess it makes sense that the admmisions people aren't THAT anal.
Anyway, I was wondering about your 159/3.5 and your friend's 152/3.2...I mean, obviously you guys were in the 25% admitted , what did you have to do to get in? Did you have fantastic letters of rec. or super shiny extracirricular activities or something?
And thank you for the advice of NOT taking it a second time. Now you really got me debating - should I waste another 2 months on this...? hmm, I really don't know. I wish they could tell me now if I would be admitted!!

With scores and GPA that are just kind of average, good letters of rec help (if they can attest to your academic abilities) but really the kicker is the personal statement. I didn't really have any extra-curricular stuff from college - maybe just sports, research, and honor's society.

I've known the people who served on the admission's committee for davis for the last two years, and I know that the personal statement is HUGE. Davis wants to know that you can do the work and will contribute to the diversity of the student body. If you can show major obstacles/challenges that you have overcome, or show that you have something unique that gives your a perspective to contribute, then they will like you. They get a lot of your run-of-the mill "I love Davis and immigration law, so let me in" kind of stuff. Those don't make it very far.

Oh and what's going to happen now that the court ruled it that way? Is Bush finally going to jail for war crime?

I could only wish. Americans lack the kind of motivation that we had during - maybe Vietnam or something. No one cares enough to do anything with Bush, even the stupid Democrats we've sent to the House and the Senate. My favorite person by far is Kucinich from Ohio. I stayed up all night to watch him read all his charges against Bush. Unfortunately, election years make politicians lose all sense :-p
