I think that the songs of these two bands possess similar aesthetics. The latter group is one of my favorite bands of all time, and will remain that.

I think Bedhead made some of the loveliest, humblest music I've ever heard and will ever hear. I once read an article about them in which it was written that they "never wrote a bad song". I tend to agree, and might even take that to an extreme by saying that they never played a bad note. Everything about their music seems naturally and quietly perfect. I also like how their lyrics were sung so softly, never ostentatious. Their lyrics are plain (in a pure and clear sense, not a boring sense), and it strikes me how almost suddenly, they stumble upon some absolutely brilliant words. "The Dark Ages" has some of my favorite lyrics ever.

I stated that I think that Silver Jews songs and Bedhead songs possess similar aesthetics - sometimes loud, sometimes languid, and perhaps country-influenced guitar rock with similar vocal and lyrical styles. I've listened to American Water a lot lately, and my favorite songs make me want very much to hear the other albums. Do you have any recommendations?

Oh, and the drumming on Bedhead's songs is so good. I could ramble about that band for too long. What beautiful wonderful music.
