Druella's letter to Walburga.

Jan 09, 2010 15:29

~Druella stares down at the parchment in front of her. The time had come to write to her sister-in-law, the woman who was closer to Cygnus than Druella had ever been, or had ever wished to be. Her hand floats above the paper, gripping the Quill tightly, pulling back every time a word was about to write itself...Druella desperately thinks of a way to craft this, knowing that whatever she writes will be unsatisfying to read. There was one good thing about it though, unlike the letter's to her daughters, Druella was able to be detailed, after all she assumed Walburga would want to know as much as possible about her brother's passing. Of course, Druella deliberately leaves out the part about the knickers and the lipstick - that can wait for another time. A much, much later time.
When she finishes, she reads over it. It doesn't read well with her. But there is little else she can say. She could sit and write it for hours and still not be satisfied. Druella sighs, why did they expect her to be able to write such a personal letter at this time? She places the letter with the others and waits for the Medi-Witch to collect them and send them on their way ~

Dearest Walburga,

This is by far the hardest letter I have ever had to write to anyone. I am not even sure how to write it, so I apologise if it comes out ill worded.  I have already sent letters to my daughters, but I assumed that you would want to break the news to your boys and Orion on your own terms.
I would have preferred to tell you this in person,  but I am unable to leave this room at present.

I was in Greece
I went to visit Cygnus in Thessaly today, I was not summoned, nor was anything wrong at home. I was merely visiting him.
I arrived at his villa and
Upon my arrival, I found him in his bed. I thought he was sleeping. You know how he likes to siesta in the afternoons...
I...I'm sorry Walburga.
Your Brother, My husband, Dear Cygnus....he had another heart attack. He didn't make it.
I summoned the Healers almost immedietly.
They informed me that he had died not an hour before my arrival, and that it was a painless passing.
He was taken to the Larissa hospital in Thessaly, before we were both escorted back to England by the Healers of St Mungo's, which is where we are now.
Cygnus has been taken downstairs for a final examination, they ensure me he will be well taken care of here.
I am not allowed to leave the hospital, I think the healers think I'll do something stupid if I was alone for too long, or at least that was the impression I got from them. Hence why I couldn't deliver this message to you in a more personal manner.

If you wish to visit, you know where we are. But I understand if you want to be alone.
I can't convey in words how sorry I am, Burgie. I know you were always Cygnus' favourite person, and he always spoke so lovingly about his sister....
I only wish things could have been different...for all of us.

I will let you know if I hear anything else.

My love, as always -

Druella.
