Did you just invent that version now??

(Long ago, during the Reagan or George HW Bush administration, I saw a quote to the effect that "When the French think of Americans, they think of the Beverly Hillbillies -- driving tanks.")

Considering how much more popular Reagan was than W is... I can only shake my head at their arrogance and audacity, but not really see it as the same threat I did when we were talking about Reagan.

Of course, if they do appeal the 22nd, it also means Clinton could run again, and that'd be a far sight better than what we've got now. As much as the right tries to demonize him, I don't think it works as well as they'd like us to think. Of course, maybe they think that if Bill can run, Hill won't?

Interesting Update

lysana posts:

"So, four Democrats and one Republican have co-sponsored a bill in the House of Representatives that would repeal the 22nd Amendment, which limits the President to two terms. Of course, that assumes it would survive the process all such proposals have to go through.

It looked extremely familiar to me. And I must declare my gratitude to someone off of a locked post, who did the Thomas footwork to demonstrate that it's been proposed in every Congress going back to the 101st in 1989..."
