Hey. :} I found you through browsing others that list Augustana as a school. I hope you don't mind the random comment.
I'll be a sophomore at Augie this spring, and I'll have to declare a major soon.. My original planned major was for English, but I'm unsure of it now. I was hoping maybe you'd be willing to tell me your experiences with the English department here? Maybe tell me if the work was worth it? If it isn't too personal, did you have trouble finding a stable job with your chosen major?
Neither of my parents went here (although my mom does work on campus) so I'm a little lost on choosing my path and figuring out if this school is the right one for me.
If this whole thing is just too odd for you, feel free to delete this comment. XD I don't want to impose and I won't pester you any further if that's the case.
Haha, you're totally fine commenting here. I will have to get back to you more at length later this weekend, as I'm at work right now.
But to answer a few very quick questions, my experience in the English department was incredibly positive. I did the writing track for my major and paired it with a double major in Journalism. I have never technically worked in my chosen major, as I have worked for Wells Fargo since shortly after graduation.
Though I work for a bank, I find that the skills I developed while at Augie have served me very well, as everyone needs to be well spoken and well written, and degrees in English and journalism certainly give you that. I also write, design and layout three corporate newsletters, which have just developed in the last year, so I do get a chance to use my skills in new, more creative ways as well.
Your mom works on campus? My husband does too. He a sergeant of Campus Safety during the day.
Anyway, will write more later. Have a lovely Friday!

PS- I love Lucy's speckles. They're endearing.
