It's been a while since you've come around

Who: Two-Face and Batwoman
What: A long-overdo confrontation
Where: A seedy bar in downtown Gotham

"And don't come back!"

Two-Face merely grunted in response, hands curling into angry fists at his sides. It was absolute bullshit, in his admittedly subjective opinion, that he had been the only one kicked out of the dingy establishment ( Read more... )

"Two-face," Leland said from above him, perched on the low, sagging roof of the bar Two-face had just been thrown out of. It was hard for her decide if she'd been consciously looking for Two-face or not. Patrolling brought her to the worst parts of town fairly regularly, and since Two-face had lost whatever was left of his mind, he'd been haunting Gotham's underbelly. So she could argue that it might be coincidence. Maybe.

She could also argue that it was coincidence that Bruce hadn't already tracked him down and arrested him, but that was a fight she was unwilling to have. Not now.

"You know, I'm amazed that the law-abiding citizens don't call the police when they see you," she said, making a short leap to the lid of a tall, metal Dumpster. "Almost as amazed as I am that the criminals don't stab you for being the former D.A."

Two-Face rolled his eyes, seemingly unimpressed with Leland's acrobatics.

"And I'm amazed it's taken this long for you to find me," he remarked cattily. "What's the matter, Joanie? Too busy with your other job tormenting the mentally ill?"

Two-Face slowly stalked closer, weaving slightly as he silently debated whether to fight or run. He couldn't get very far, he knew, before she would radio the GPD and possibly Batman as well. Two-Face was left with very few options and no weapons other than his fists.

"Go home, Joan," he said with a belabored sigh, pointedly turning his back on the psychiatrist. He was relying heavily on the fact that she didn't know he was unarmed to get him out of the situation.

"I'm not really in the mood for this tonight. Another time, okay?"

"No, Two-face," Leland said, jumping off the Dumpster to face him on the ground. "You're coming with me, tonight. You're going back to Arkham."

She'd considered calling the GPD when she'd realized that it was Two-face responsible for the fight in the bar. But between the remnants of the mob that still wanted Harvey Dent dead and the police officers who might be willing to kill Two-face, it wasn't an appealing option. And calling Bruce...wasn't going to happen. Bruce wanted Harvey to be with him, and Leland wanted Harvey to go to Arkham, and the two goals were looking increasingly incompatible.

Two-Face, who had already started to walk away, paused mid-step and turned, smiling ruefully.

"Joan, sweetheart... You don't honestly think that's going to happen, do you?" He eyed her with a mixture of amusement and mock-pity, the smirk on his face and his relaxed posture communicating a confidence that he didn't quite feel, given the situation. Two-Face strode closer, slipping his hand into his jacket as though reaching for a non-existent weapon. Leland froze on the spot and tensed visibly, appearing slightly uncertain in the face of an unknown threat. Two-Face simply laughed and took a step forward, viciously headbutting the masked woman.
