A Little Push

Who: Lex Luthor, The Joker
Where: Lex's office
What: A late-night visit

Lex's eyes were burning, a combination of too little sleep and too much time in front of a computer screen. He was considering setting up a spare bed in his office, but he knew he wouldn't sleep there anyway. He was trying to avoid sleep, and had been doing it more or less successfully ever since Power Girl had visited him a few days ago.

He rubbed his eyes, shifting his shoulders painfully as he scrolled through another screen of reports and figures. Kitty was starting to worry about him. With Harvey having turned himself in to Arkham, Lex had been hoping that he'd be able to mostly avoid someone being concerned about his sanity, but Kitty was surprisingly tenacious. He couldn't take any concerned, slightly wary glances right now. His skin felt too prickly, his thoughts too raw. He blamed Power Girl, since that was fairly easy.

It was well past two in the morning, and even the most dedicated of his security guards and nightstaff were probably asleep at their desks, which was the way Lex preferred it lately. It meant he had free reign of the building if he needed to pace. But Lex wasn't alone right now. He could feel eyes on him, and since logic ruled out the security guards, it almost certainly wasn't a good thing.

He thought about pulling out the handgun in his desk. Instead, he called out, "Hello?"
