Does anyone else find it creepy that, in the first scene of Pirates of the Caribbean, Norrington is a grownass man and Captain of a ship already and Elizabeth is, like, twelve years old?

Because I do.

Consider the time period. He would also be younger than he appeared due to the powdered wig.

Okay, so age gaps were more okay then, but you still had to be pushing thirty to make Captain. And it's still a creepy thing to feed to modern audiences. I wouldn't exactly call PotC a 'period piece'.

It's creepy because the movie is produced by Disney. As for a whether or not it's a 'period piece', it would not be the first wildly inaccurate period movie ever produced. Just one of the more popular.

I dunno that Disney automatically makes it creepier. Ariel was totally underaged. I think Sleeping Beauty might be the only one who's flat out declared to be eighteen (and her prince was the coolest, so there's that). They have a record of creepy and also subliminal messaging, is what I'm saying. Points for consistency, I guess?

Real life twelve year olds are just way more obvious about it than cartoon ones. This is probably how hentai gets away with existing.
