Reflection II

How do old people remember their life? I wonder whether it's actually any different from being younger. I'm in the kind of mood now where I think back on all the things that have happened to me, but as I get older, the quantity of things to reflect on doesn't seem to get any larger. You said it best with "We're supposed to look upon older people as wiser for their greater 'experience' in life, but I always get the feeling that all it has taught them is what is important and what isn't." That's exactly what makes them wise, I think. If only we could all know what's important and what isn't. It would save us a lot of time. Unfortunately the people who know have used most of their lives to find out.

hey Babe, Its Mum Kim :P......I was reading this entry and just wanted to put my 2 cents in. You are for the most part correct in thinking that we mainly remember what shaped our lives, but unfortunately we do remember the little tidbits that we would rather forget. But on the bright side, I do find myself remembering times from my childhood, like chasing butterflies with a net during the summer, catching fireflies and putting them in jars, catching little lizards and having little bite marks all over my hands from handling them, and running away from home (actually just around the block for a little while and then going home for dinner :P). I also remember people in my life that had different influences on me whether it was good or bad, I do remember. I still have many years to go (I hope) but I am almost 50 now and I still remember much of my life as if it only happened yesterday. I hope this helps your pondering a little :)

Love ya
