My best wishes to everyone on the LJ staff who got laid off. It happens, but I must say their timing and lack of severance pay sucks hardcore. In good news, unemployment isn't half bad, and the unexpected free time can be a blessing. My room has never been so clean ( Read more... )

Dreamwidth. Interesting. But I doubt it will work. Just like Inksome and everything else that's come around since LJ made all the fuck ups :/

It has a much better chance of succeeding than anything like insanejournal or greatestjournal. It won't just be an LJ knockoff living on someone's server in their basement, it's going to be an actual company. They actually have a staff of software engineers, some of whom used to work for LJ back in the day. And though they're using LJ code as a base, they're working hard on improving the whole thing including lots of new features. Plus, lj users are getting in on it and adding their suggestions and keeping up to date on the mailing list. The buzz around it is good too, so I think it has a lot of potential to take off.

I saw it! I'm glad you enjoyed it, even if you weren't bowled over. :) But yes, we definitely need an excuse to meet! Surely there's something cool going on in the city sometime soon.

There are...well, not all that many now, actually. Maybe five?

The no-severance deal was really shitty of them. *sigh* But I do agree with you that LJ probably won't go anywhere anytime soon - never hurts to have a backup though, like you said.

Hello!

Sorry to butt in like that, I try sending you a PM but with my limited knowledge in LJ I was not sure I had suceeded. ^^

First of all, thank you very much for creating such an awesome community like GaaNaru! It was the root to my shipping, really.

Second, It would be awesome, if you have a bit of time, to change or add to the rec list of the comm, which is a bit outdated.

Since that time, there's that awesome rec list done by Dyakoka, which has around a hundred stories all GaaNaru in it, and is pretty recent. Here's the link: http://community.livejournal.com/imimland/21271.html

I think it would be great if it was in the userinfo,so to have potential young GaaNaru lovers on a good start. Plus this archiving was a huge work, it would be a shame to have it lost in the middle of the comm.^^

We also intend to do another rec list, this time featuring Art, later on.
