How is it that an entry-level position should require 2+ years of experience? Bueller?

Seriously, they're reacting to this whole recession thing in exactly the opposite manner than they should. GIVE PEOPLE JOBS AND CREATE MORE STUFF AND THE RECESSION WILL GO AWAY SOONER, DUH.

That's what I've been wondering for the past 10 years! There's no job anywhere, not hamburger-flipping, data-entry, or toilet-cleaning, that I have enough experience for: I've never had a job before.

The way I'm hoping to get around it is to just volunteer at enough places until I have enough experience for something.

I'm guessing that the real reason for high school and college is not to teach people stuff, but to give people an excuse for existing while they accumulate enough resume items to get a job.

Good luck on your hunt.
