DETAILS: Talim is certainly one of the kinder and more innocent characters in the Soul Calibur series. She's modest, but her abilities are more than enough to see her through. Most of her dialogue includes phrases that are reassuring and encouraging. She even apologizes to enemies once she beats them. But while she believes strongly in herself, she does ask for guidance and aid from the wind.
She has a positive outlook, but seems to realize the serious nature of what she is fighting against. Her optimism is grounded in reality- she doesn't have any selfish motives and doesn't want to use the Soul Edge for her own purposes. Talim manages to be innocent, yet sincere.
She cares for everyone, and helps others because she wants to- she has been shown to forgive her enemies and care for sick children without so much as a second thought. She fights purely for the good of the world, with no thirst for power or revenge.

DETAILS: Talim's starter. Upon their first meeting, he startled her for only a second, but she accepted him quickly. Hayate suggested that Talim had lost her ability to read the wind so that she would have to rely on her partner more, and she took it to heart, asking the Scyther earnestly for his help in this strange place. As such, he's very fond and protective of her, and his gentle nature compliments Talim's own gentleness nicely. He's formed a sort of friendly rivalry with Talim's Skarmory, Loka Luha. He shares a name with one of Talim's elbow blades- Syi Salika. It can be somewhat translated as "Teaching Flute".

DETAILS: As a Pidgey, he quite literally ran into Talim and Syi Salika on Route 29. He came diving out of nowhere, trying to take their heads off for some unknown reason. As much as Talim didn't want to fight, the angry little bird wasn't going to let them get away unscathed, and eventually had to be subdued and caught. He thinks he's a whole lot bigger than he is, and will often fling himself at opponents at the slightest provocation- regardless of size, or level. She has been working with him, though, in attempt to break him of his violent streak. In fact, she charged him with guarding her Dratini egg, which seemed to help greatly. As a result, he's very protective of Kalana, despite being smaller than she is. Talim named him Alun, after the bird she has at home.

DETAILS: Bought as an egg from Hiccup and Souji on 3/4. She's easily the quietest of Talim's pokémon, but she possesses an insatiable curiosity and need to be involved with each and every little thing around her. She's a little small for her kind, but she makes up for it by having a big heart. Ironically, she's inseparable from Alun the Angry Pidgeot, who looked after her as an egg. She's named after Talim's grandmother.

DETAILS: Received as an egg from Squalo on 4/1. Loka Luha was nothing but happy from the day she hatched. Her general good mood is catching, and even Alun the Angry Pidgeot has been known to begrudge her a birdie-smile every once and a while. While her spirits are high, she also has a great need to prove herself- especially to Syi Salika. The two have a sort of friendly rivalry, and can often be found shining and sharpening their blades, each trying to outdo the other. Fitting, perhaps, since she is named after Talim's other elbow blade- Loka Luha. It can be somewhat translated as "Crazy Cry".

Yun-seong is stubborn and prideful, much like his namesake. He doesn't listen to Talim often, but he's got a soft spot for her that shines through every once and a great while.

DETAILS: Found as an egg in her bag on the morning of 4/24. Talim was not expecting a fish of all things to come out of that egg, and she was immediately worried that the pokémon would drown for lack of water. The first thing she did was fetch her a bucket of water to live in- which Lidi was nothing but grateful for, if a little teasing. She's sweet, but no-nonsense when she has to be. She is named after Talim's mother.

DETAILS: Inherited from Squalo after he disappeared from Johto. Ira, aptly named Italian for "wrath", is not a very friendly Typhlosion. As a Cyndaquil she used to be very clingy, adorable really, but eventually she just felt as if she was being left behind and abandoned by her trainer in favor of other pokémon. So as a Quilava she turned a little spiteful, kept to herself, and generally felt lonely without feeling able to do much about it. Ira enjoys fighting, and fire attacks are her favorites. All things considered, fighting (when winning, obviously) may be the only time she is truly happy.

DETAILS: Inherited from Nagisa after she disappeared from Johto. Dango is a lot like his original trainer in many ways: quiet, sweet and encouraging. Talim can't bring herself to use him for fighting if she can help it. She does try to assure that he always gets his exercise, though.
