[There is no room for doubt in that tone. He means it, Chloe. He will lock you in a room somewhere until morning if he has to.]

[But Chloe wasn't as strong with her powers here as she was back home. Even then she would always get into sticky situations. She sighed, rubbing her face. It wasn't smart to try to force her way into this. She'd do more harm than good. She knew that. Her tone portrayed that with her next words.]
I have to do something, Derek. What am I supposed to do while you're both out there? I-it's hard to just sit here when I know you might get hurt. Then Alex will blame himself and...
[Either way, it seemed like a no win situation. At least Derek was doing for Alex what Chloe used to do for him.]

[He doesn't really care what she has to say here. There's no argument that can convince him her being there is a good idea. Maybe he could protect her from Alex, maybe he couldn't, but it doesn't matter. Having her there would only likely force him to have to try, and that wouldn't do any good at all.
Derek's ready to repeat himself, but, fortunately, it seems as though Chloe might not push the issue.]

[That's it. She's not happy, Derek, but she's not going to be the dumb girl who makes stupid demands of her boyfriend just to get her way. She also liked the reprieve from being called 'stupid' time and again. She didn't want to start up old habits. It's seconds after this reply to Derek that Chloe has another post up for others to see. If she was being safe-guarded on this, she was not about to be alone all night worrying.]

I know you want to help, Chloe .. I just don't want you to get hurt .. My actions are far from my own control during the moon and putting you at risk like that ..
[He looks genuinely upset at having to deny her joining them. Not that it neccesarily needs to go as smoothly as planned .. If Chloe is up for getting into trouble, she's perfectly welcome to poke along the edge of the wood.]

[She cuts off. Shakes her head, lips pursed.]
I don't want to put either of you in more danger, and I don't want to do something stupid so... I'll sit this one out. This time. We--we'll see how things go.

He's helping you because he wants to, you know. Because he cares. It means a lot. Being there. So... come morning, don't--don't worry about what did, or didn't happen, okay? I'm just glad you have a friend who can go with you, so you aren't alone.

[She grins, and it reaches her eyes this time.]
I'd try to give you guys some incentive to coming right back but... my cooking isn't that good.
[She laughs again. Okay. Her cooking was awful.]

[He was such a good friend. Chloe wanted to be sure he knew that she appreciated him just as much, and was worried it would sound silly over the journals. He could probably see how much he meant to her in her expression alone.]
