i hate the way i get after coming back from somewhere, something like that and i realize i'm doing nothing at home. and i love the way i feel after reading something like che's diaries during his trek across the sad but rich land of america in the south, but i hate that then the apathy creeps back. apathy has taken over our generation. but then i ( Read more... )

Being able to think that way is a gift and you shouldn't let it go to waste. Not everyone cares about that kind of stuff, so it is important for the people that do, to band together. I met a local down in Mazatlan, he was working construction 7 days a week to pay his way through school. We talked about Mexico and their government and what it was like growing up there. He read the motorcycle diaries when he was 13 and said since that a fire has been inside of him burning for change. There are still people out there who are seething for a change. Someone just has to spark it and I am sure it will spread so fast it will leave us saying, why the fuck didn't we do this sooner? I hope.

what's sad is that caring about this stuff should not be a gift - it is so glaringly OBVIOUS. almost everyone i know cares and thinks about this stuff and craves change, yet i find apathy in all of us, too. if we feel this passionately, why aren't we doing anything? but after taking a step back think we just really can't do it alone. and you're right. we need to band together and all we need is just that spark. and i hope it comes, too, and that is blazes across the world into those countries that need it most, and hopefully throughout the tyrant countries that really have some power to change our world if we only started using it. if only those with all the money and all the political and military power felt how we do..things could be SO SO different.
