But it is interesting,no, how we so often allow what we cannot do (or, what we do badly) to define us rather than what we do well (because, of course, ANYONE can do what we do well). In House's case,this is a lot more understandable than in general, but it's still sad (and frustrating for Cuddy) that he feels that he must be diminished in her eyes.
And the fact that he is waking her up to go running - it's so evocative, and you know how excited and happy he must be for it to be possible to run.
You truly are the master of detail - you didn't have to mention that he knocked a lamp over when he threw his cane towards the closet, but it made it so much more vivid...and the fact that you noted that it fell well short of its objective also made it funny.
