Really enjoyed this. It was a perfect follow-up, and accented part 1 quite remarkably. I especially loved the well placed lines: "His mouth dropped open a bit" and "House suddenly felt like he was going to cry." He's always so arrogant and unflappable with his jokes, working to maintain that image regardless of results. After finally being with Cuddy and finding hope, I could see him being stunned when he realizes he's hurt her. The fact it was unintentional and he didn't have any indication or forethought hurting her would be a possibility...that would be even more staggering, leaving him helpless to stop the flood of emotion. This rings so true to me, even more than the self-destructive behavior and self-loathing after the fact. I could visualize the scene and was moved. A lot of good stuff here, but you know that. ;-) Thanks for sharing.
Aww, these two. They just literally can't stop with their power plays though I admit, that prank was low even for you, House. That was just plain mean. It's a great thing Wilson is always willing to play buffer and the voice of reason for House and Cuddy. I'm glad he was able to reach to Cuddy and made her see things. :)
Sooooo much fun! I giggled over your first scene: I always love it when you describe House the Aesthete with a Discerning Palate, and imagine him taking genuine pleasure in preparing a meal to woo his lady love. But, oops, even he can forget to turn off the stove...and the image of them refocussing after having sex to the accompaniment of the smell of the burning polenta: so funny

And the hypocrisy of Lisa Cuddy strikes again. Okay it was a low blow that they've been dating and slowly getting somewhere BUT that prank he played wasn't anymore horrible than hers (except the hospital staff was parf of the game which kinda expanded the circles involved but still - emotionally the same damage to me).
I almost expected him to play out his own emotional pain card about the faked pregnancy to make her realize he didn't hurt her anymore than she had hurt him but I like the path you chose. This time around, booze and remorseful House were the remedy for Huddy, I like ;)
