Well. That's not where I thought it'd end. I see now that it's part 1 of 2, but I was, 'Oh noes, angst!' It was a very interesting take on a plot we've seen before. It was very realistic that Sheldon would need grant money and that he'd have to schmooze for it. You did a great job of writing their relationship, very in-character, the give and take. My favorite lines:
She thinks of Sheldon with a date for just a moment, his eyes attentive on her face, focused on her mouth, her lips, and his hand on the small of her back as he guides her away with him, to a private, hidden spot. She thinks of all that single-minded attention focused on a woman, on her, and her breath catches for just a moment, and her resistance to the idea fades, swiftly.

Thank you so, so much. Realistic, I think, is the biggest hurdle writing these characters, keeping them big enough without going into caricature. Thanks so much for commenting.
I cannot promise no angst in the next part. Got to get through the angst to get to the happy funtimes, right? Anyway. Thanks for the love and the guh and the review.
This was fantastic, I absolutely loved every moment of it. The TAs were so bitchy and yet, unfortunately, very believable. That was the biggest thing about this actually - it was all so believable. Sheldon's reaction to the kiss was just so perfect. Poor Penny. And poor Sheldon. I can't wait to read the second part!
I can't think of higher praise than "believable" so thank you so much for your comment. (Also, god that spot there on JP's neck? Lickable, y/n? And that thought: inappropriate, y/y?)

Looking forward to the next part.
