As my fingers twitched underneath Jack's, my heart pounded beneath my chest. Visiting hours would be ending soon, and although I was able to stay the night before, I doubted Jack's nurses or doctor's would allow me to spend another night in his room. A smile spread across my face, because well, I was excited to tell our story to Jack. I was nervous though, I would admit, but if anyone were to help Jack remember the past, I had hoped it would be me.

As I took a deep breath, Jack's grip around my hand had firmed, as if he were trying to squeeze it. What made Jack so trusting with someone who was now practically a stranger was beyond me, but I'm more then glad he didn't push me away. "Well, where should I start?" I asked, eyes locking onto the younger's face.

"T-the beg-g-ginning." Jack stuttered out, his own eyes staring back into mine before he finally glanced away.

"Right, the beginning." I nodded my head, rubbing the back of his hand with my thumb carelessly. "Well, it all started in the eighth grade. We didn't talk much at first. In fact, we kind of hated each other. No, we really hated each other. Honestly, sometimes I wanted to tear your fucking head off..." I stated truthfully, locking my eyes down on the blanket spread out across Jack. "But, I'm really glad I didn't. Anyway, I don't really know why we started talking. Normally, 'talking' meant being friends, but I didn't want to be your friend, Jack. And you didn't want to be mine, so how we ended up here today is way beyond me."

The younger boy shifted in his bed, my thumb trailing across the pale skin on his hand. "We didn't become friends until the end of ninth grade. It took a while for both of us to warm up to the idea of getting along with another, but somewhere along the way it happened. You spent almost every day after school at my house for two weeks straight, or until whenever my mom or your mom made you come home. We became inseparable that summer; We were like peanut butter and jelly. Where ever I went, you went, and vise versa. I went back to England for a month that year. It was weird, not being with you everyday like I was used too." I sighed, locking my eyes back onto Jack's face.

"We called each other every day. It was expensive as fuck, and our moms wanted to kill us, but, it was fucking worth it, Jack." I nodded my head, leaning in a little closer. "That summer, after I got home from Essex, we started dating. I didn't know what drew me in, ya know? I hated you Jack. But somewhere a long the way, you made me fall in love with you, and I don't regret anything." Another smile spread across my face, as well as Jack's. I didn't know if this was getting us anywhere, but, it was a start.

"We didn't tell anyone at first, but they all figured it out eventually. Rian and Zack were the first to notice something going on. You remember them, right? The two boys from earlier?" Jack nodded his head. "They didn't even believe it at first, but I think they knew deep down that we weren't lying when we told them. A lot of people picked on us. Called us names, ya know, the usual bullying most kids had to go through. It sucked, but I was glad we were there for each other when we both really needed it. There's more to our story, Jack. But I want to wait. Hold off until you can handle all of it, ya know? Maybe you'll remember some bits and pieces of everything along the way."

"A-Alex?" Jack lifted his head, smiling towards my direction.
"Yes Jack?"

"D-Do y-y-you th-think y-you c-can l-l-love me even th-though I-I'm l-like this?" The boy's smile fell, eyes wandering away from my face.

"Jack, even if you were paralyzed from the waist down, had no hair, only had one arm and six toes, I would still love you. I will love you until my heart stops beating, you hear me?" My hand tightened around Jack's momentarily, before loosening again. "Honestly Jack, you have nothing to worry about. I won't be going anywhere." I gave him a reassuring nod, bringing the back of his trembling hand to my lips.

"W-will y-you do som-something f-for me th-then?"

"Anything, Jack."

"H-h-help m-me be th-the o-o-old J-Jack. H-help me re-re-remember."

Author's Note:I managed to get on my aunts computer tonight, so I figured I would update. I said in the last chapter this had some importance, and it does, but you won't really know why until the chapters coming up. I'm sorry this is so short :(
