"You are Alexander William Gaskarth." Jack said, holding the hands of the shaking boy opposit him. Tears ran down his achingly beautiful face.

"Just a name... Just a name." Alex sobbed almost inaudibly. Jack's heart was breaking.

"It's not just a name. It's everything. Everything in this world." Jack said, pulling Alex into his arms. He could feel Alex's lips tremble against his neck as he held him.

"I'm so sorry, Jack... I'm so sorry." Alex choked out. He felt as if the world had been pulled out from under his feet and he was free falling. He imagined that was how he would have felt falling thirty feet if he'd been conscious. He gripped Jack tighter, holding no more will to say anything else.

"Alex, you did nothing wrong. You could never do anything wrong." Jack said against his hair. He felt Alex let out a trembling breath.

"Jack..." He said softly. "Jack, you might think I'm an angel or some shit... but I'm only a person. I'm not perfect... I make mistakes... I'm nothing." Alex said, now looking up at Jack with bloodshot eyes.

"I don't care about any of that. Every one of your flaws... I love." Jack said, resting his forehead against Alex's.

"Love..." Alex repeated softly, something different in his voice. "Did... did you hear me?" Alex asked, his eyes swimming with emotions.

"I did." Jack said simply. Alex looked at him expectingly. Jack pressed his lips to Alex's jaw and whispered in his ear. "I love you." He said. It was the first time he'd said it to him and he knew could hear him. It felt so good. It felt like everything was going to be okay. The words tasted so good.

And the look on Alex's face made it so much sweeter.

"Yeah... that's what I said." Alex said breathlessly. "I love you." He said, as if he was tasting it just as Jack had. "I love you." he repeated. Jack didn't say anything. He just simply looked into those caramel eyes, never wanting to let him go.

For a little bit, at least, things were perfect.

Tom was the last one off the ladder. He practically jumped off and praised the ground. He was never one for heights.

"Now that we've had our Tom Delonge overreaction moment of the day, we can move on." Dave said, leading the way. Tom gave him a nice gesture and Mark just laughed. It was just like old times. Almost.

"So, do you have any idea where they are?" Mark asked, soaked to the bone now with rain. He had to find them.

"This place is huge... they could be most anywhere." Dave said before realizing how dismal that sounded. "They shouldn't be hard to find." He added quickly. Mark took that answer. It was better than nothing.

They trekked for what seemed like hours. They didn't find who they were looking for though. Not initially. Mark was the first to see two figures huddled under a tree. His heart skipped a beat.

"Who's there?" He called out. The shapes jumped a little at the sound of Mark's voice.

"U-um... who are you?" A voice asked. Not Alex or Jack. Mark's heart sunk.

"We're the rescue team." Dave said, smiling. The two boys stood up and walked towards the group, looking like lost children.

"Jeremy and Pierre." Dave added. "I've seen your files." He added when they gawked at him as if he were a psychic or something.

"Have you seen anyone else around?" Mark asked hopefully. Pierre nodded.

"Um, two boys. I can't really remember what they look like, but one was pretty tall and lanky and the other one a little shorter. I think... I think one of them was Jack." Pierre said, wringing his hands.

"Looks like we got your boys." Dave said, smiling at Mark. Well, they sort of did. They just had to actually find them now.

"Where are they?" Mark asked hurriedly, getting impatient.

"I'm not really sure. They were around here last night, but I have no clue." Jeremy spoke up.

"Well, we'll keep searching." Tom said, clapping Mark on the shoulder when he looked as though everything was hopeless.

"I hate the fact that they're always just out of reach." Mark said, letting out an exasperated breath.

"If it is memory loss, it'll probably come back in bits and pieces, right?" Cassadee asked Rian. He shrugged.

"I mean... I'm no doctor, but I was just saying anything that sounded good." Rian said, pulling her closer to him.

"Well... he'll be okay." Cassadee said, feeling defeated. For what reason, she wasn't sure.

"I'm just happy I found you." Rian said, nuzzling her neck gently. She laughed softly and kissed his head.

"I am too." She said, a tear sliding down her cheek.

"Don't cry, Cassie." He said, wiping the tear away. She felt her heart beat faster when she heard the familiar nickname. She'd remembered snapping at Josh and John a few times for calling her that, because it hurt too much.

"This is just so fucking unfair." She said, the corners of her mouth tugging down, her lips trembling. "I can't take this." She said, burying her face into his chest. She was glad Jack and Alex hadn't seen her like this. She was always the strong one. The rock. The glue that kept everything together.

But now she was just a lost, afraid little girl.

"You're so strong, Cassie. You can do this. We all can. Soon, we're going to get a miracle, because things always get worse before they get better." Rian said, running his fingers through her hair.

"I don't even know if I believe in miracles anymore." Cassadee said, her voice a void of emotion. It scared Rian to think Cassadee had snapped. It scared him to think she would end up being a hollow shell by the time this shit was through. He wouldn't let it happen.

"Maybe miracles don't exist... but this sure does. This. Right here." He said, referring to their relationship. "I'll never let you go, Cassie. I'd never leave you to fend for yourself. And if I didn't, I'd be dead." He said. Cassadee shuddered at the last words. Was there a possibility of death out here?

She sure hoped they wouldn't find out.
