tumblr"So where do you want to go now?" Jack asked Alex.
It was around 8 now, time had flew by.
“Well, I know the drinking age here is 21, but is there some sort of pub around here?” Alex said, not sure if Jack would still go into a pub because he was underage.
Jack laughs. “Barely anybody pays attention to the drinking age around here anyway. You'll find 16 year olds in the bars, sometimes even 15 year olds. There's nothing anybody can really do about it anyway.”
“15?” Alex muttered. “15 and in bars? I mean I had my first beer at 16 but I never went to a bar until I was 18.”
“15 might be a bit young, but the 21 age limit is bullshit. I mean, you can sacrifice your life for the army at 18 but you can't have a beer? Where is the logic in that?” Jack said, somewhat angered.
“In the Netherlands you can drink at 16.” Alex said, knowing a relative who lived in the Netherlands.
“Things don't always make sense.” Jack said. It was a double alliteration though. Jack was talking about two things, one was about what they were talking about, the drinking ages. The other was the whole Jack liking Alex thing. Jack had to admit, Alex was definitely different. But he didn't want to like Alex. He just wanted to stay friends with Alex.
“So a bar is basically a pub right?” Alex asks, breaking Jack's train of thought.
“If a pub is a place where you drink, yeah.”
“So could we go to a bar?” Alex had spent many nights in pubs back in England, by himself since he couldn't stand the kids driving past his house, screaming things like “fag”, “come out and face us like a man.”
“What kind of bar do you have in mind?”
“My favorite pub in England was one that was really spacious and warm. It felt like home in there, with couches and tellys.” Alex said, reminiscing the quiet times he had in that pub.
“I know this bar that's 10 minutes from here. It's nice and pretty quiet and homey.” Jack knew a lot of bars in the area, he and Haylee had been to a lot of them, late into the nights.
“Let's go.” Alex had come to trust Jack when it came to places to visit. He had had a great day so far.
They walked quickly, being pushed on by strangers on both sides of them. They reached a door on a fairly quiet street, there was already a short line of people getting in.
“And this, Alex” Jack pauses dramatically “is Please Don't Tell. Drinks are a bit expensive but it's well worth it.”
“You can't get in without a reservation, and I didn't make one so we have to sneak in.” Jack says grinning.
They stand on the side, Jack waiting for the perfect moment to try and get inside. Finally, Jack pulls Alex in with a group of people, around 30 years old, avoiding the hostess at the door.
They walk inside and Alex is speechless. The place was beautifully lit, with comfy-looking couches around the counter. Couches and tables scattered across the room.
“Pretty nice, huh?” Jack asks Alex, smiling.
“Yeah, pretty nice.” Alex said grinning.
Jack ordered 2 drinks, one for Alex and one for himself. Then he spotted a brunette, sitting by herself at one of the stools not too far away from where he and Alex were sitting. Alex noticed Jack looking at her, and nudged him.
“Go on, go talk to her! I'll be fine.” Alex says, smiling with difficulty.
“Thanks man.” Jack said as he patted Alex's back and walked over to the girl.
Alex watched with his heart dropping as Jack sat down next to the girl and said something to her. The girl looked up, smiling. Alex couldn't lie, he was jealous of the girl. She better feel fucking lucky.
Alex finished the drink in his hand, and ordered another. The drinks came in glass cups, with a slice of lemon on the edge, making everything look fancy and exotic. This is exactly what Alex was afraid of, Jack finding someone else, leaving Alex alone. He drained his drink once again, and ordered a third drink.
Alex actually hoped that Jack had noticed him blushing whenever Jack went extremely close to him, because then maybe Jack would draw the line and tell Alex that they were only friends. Then at least Alex wouldn't be hoping for something that would never come true. He sighed and took another sip.
“Hey beautiful. What's wrong?” Alex heard a voice behind him say. He looked over his shoulder. It was a tall, muscular guy with hair gelled so slick it was shiny.
“Nothing much.” Alex mumbled, hoping the guy would get a hint and go away.
“Oh, are you British? I find British guys fascinating.” The guy said, sitting down next to Alex, where Jack had been sitting. But this guy was a poor replacement for Jack.
“Yeah, I'm British.” Alex said, trying to make his replies as short and blunt as possible.
“I see you finished your drink there, can I buy you another?” The guy ordered another drink for Alex, who gratefully took it.
He leaned in closer to Alex and whispered in his ear “Now, you aren't straight are you? Your shoes are fantastic and straight guys don't pay attention to shoes.”
Alex froze. This was way too close for comfort.
He pulled Alex's arm aggresively, trying to get Alex to follow him.
“No, stop. I don't want to!” Alex tried to yell, but things were hazy, he already had 3 drinks.
“Come on, don't you want a little fun?” the guy asked, still pulling on Alex's arm.
“No, not with you anyway.” Alex tried to shake him off.
“Hey! What are you doing?” Alex heard a voice say. It sounded like Jack!
Alex tried to focus on the person, but it was hard to tell.
“Is this your friend here? Better not leave him alone because he's attractive and someone will take him home anyday.” the guy said, then leaving.
“Alex, Alex!” Jack said, lightly shaking Alex.
Alex was grateful for Jack, and he wanted to show it. He leaned forward and pulled Jack down, planting a kiss on Jack's lips.
Then he instantly regretted it. Why had he done that? The alcohol was making him delusional.
To his surprise, Jack cupped Alex's face and kissed him harder.
Alex was surprised. Did Jack like him after all? It didn't matter. What mattered was that moment, right there in time. Alex pried Jack's mouth open with his lips, exploring the inside of the taller boy's mouth. Jack left out a soft groan, and kissed Alex back, more urgently.
“Alex..” Jack whispered.
His voice was perfect. Alex couldn't imagine anyone more perfect than Jack.
Alex pulled away from Jack and stood up. He registered a look of confusion on Jack's face. But it wasn't what Jack thought. He didn't want it to stop. In fact, he wanted more.
“Let's go to your house.” Alex mummered in Jack's ear.
Alex was intoxicated, he knew he was. But through his drunken haze, he made out Jack nodding and knew that this wouldn't be a one sided act.
