title Living is Easy with Eyes Closed [Chapter One] | rated overall R, this chapter is pretty PG | author
sooverrated_x | pairing Zack Merrick/Alex Gaskarth, Alex/Jack friendship | warnings AU, age difference, there may be more as it goes along .... summary Alex is fifteen and Zack is eighteen. They have nothing in common but they end up falling head over heals for each other. disclaimer I don’t own anyone/thing. I’m just twisted. Title/cut belong to The Beatles. | A/N I’m going to attempt to finish a long fic for once in my life. It’s going to have short chapters to keep me motivated. Also this part is extra short because I really just need to get the feel of this. University is killing my muse so updates may take a while ..... also this is like the first time I’m writing something that isn’t totally depressing so bear with me on this.

tumblr Alex was tiny, skin and boned, big haired and a fifteen year old high school sophomore. He was weird and often suspected by fellow students of drug use when in reality the only thing that he had ever tried was vodka and that burned the back of his throat too much for his liking. He figured that he’d just stick to beer because at least it tasted good. He wore girls jeans and tight t-shirts and didn’t outwardly seem to care what other people thought about him. He more or less acted like he was oblivious to what others thought about him and everyone was content with that. His only and best friend was Jack Barakat who was just as, and probably more, weird than Alex Gaskarth himself and they were both okay with that. They both played guitar and listened to quality music and hung out on the gross orange couch in the Gaskarth’s basement while playing video games for hours.
Zack was big, strong, clean cut and an eighteen years old high school senior. He was quite - into art and his own things. He didn’t talk much and really only spoke when spoken too. He had two loves in his life - his camera and his skateboard. No one bothered Zack Merrick because he had arms big enough to snap you in half; not that he actually would. In all honesty, Zack wasn’t the type of guy to have friends. He kept to himself and drifted among people who were always happy to talk to him and knew who he was because he was nice and he was normal. People liked Zack Merrick - they would always smiled at him and he’d smile and wave back and most likely know your name.
Why Zack asked Alex if he wanted to go to the movies was really a mystery to him. All Alex really knows is that he was sitting in English class and the two of them talking about how boring it was because they were seated next to each other, not because they were friends. They didn’t know each other that well - they were from two different ends of the school. Alex was that weird kid with too much energy and who was difficult to get along with and Zack was that weird kid who was quite but really quite easy to get along with.
But somehow Alex ended up doodling all over his paper and Zack joined in and they filled the whole thing up with monsters made of black pen coloured in with blue, pink, green and yellow highlighter.
And then out of nowhere Zack muttered “Wanna go to the movies or something with me?” under his breath so that the teacher wouldn’t hear him. Alex nodded as he used the pink highlighter to colour in the tail of the monster that Zack drew.
