You do realize words change meaning through the entire adaption of the human understanding. Take the word “blood” back in the victorian age it was equivalent to saying “ fuck you” to our modern age. Words only mean anything when society says they mean something. Kinda trite if you think about it because in the great idea of the Deity I don’t think the great energy cares if we use words “bad” words.
But yeah I agree with kinda lame.

How is a deleted post translated into judging and all else that makes up your tirade?

Maybe it was unfocused but I do believe there is a lot of legalism that goes on at that board.

I think there could be a little bit more love and grace and more communication that there's no cursing allowed and just let it go that once if she really didn't want me cursing (rather than a deleted post which honestly is a bit harsh, especially when I posted something extremely positive). It doesn't make sense to me and it's not encouraging at all when you decide to edit your fellow Christian brothers and sisters for something so small.

I do agree that grace must abound, but it seems as if you've found a comfortable seat of complacency in the fact that we'll never be perfect. Of course we'll stumble here and there on our way to heaven, but by no means does that mean we can't walk as straight as possible. This is only my opinion, so please don't mistake me for a judge of sorts but it seems as if you're only justifying yourself with that fact instead of letting God's grace just fulfill it's purpose. Maybe she was wrong on her part, but is your case so blameless that you can stand there and openly criticize? Which in the first place, she didn't even do.

Let's say again that her action was a slip of sorts as well, in which case I must ask, where is your grace?

Also, where is the Scriptural backing to your case?

Naw man, I don't see you as being judgemental. It's actually made me think quite a bit and you're being really cool about it so I really appreaciate it ( ... )

Hey bro! I was literally banned from Christcore for several weeks. All I did was to reply to a comment someone made which was very legalistic and whatnot. I was encouraging that person to not have such a hardline stance and to remember the grace/ mercy/ etc that Christ had. ohboyancy (sp) felt that I was encouraging people to keep a negative reply going or some crap. I was soooooooooooo pissed. I thought about leaving the group, but I knew that many people had thanked me for my posts and comments there. So I stuck around in spite of ohboyancy's legalism and control issues. I have known Christians who will freak out with words like: pissed, freaking, ass. That's just ridiculous.

Stand Strong!

I didn't finish reading your post before posting my first comment. Now that I did let me type some more thoughts.

I am highly opposed to legalism. I am a huge fan of Jay Bakker and what he has to say. I have spoken to him face to face and have listened to him preach (in person) several times.

I say all that to say this. I don't agree with your last sentence. But I can agree to disagree, and I can agree a little. True, we are not here to edit peoples' lives. However even aside from being Christians we should be huge proponents of protecting and valuing life, for promoting fair trade, etc. We don't have to be ass holes about those things, but we should do our part. There is a loving way to make things happen. As Christians we should be even more sympathetic/ empathetic to social issues, and to the value of life.

over and out. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I totally agree with things like backing civil rights, enviromentalism.. I think it's important to back these things up as Christians.

But one thing I think is that here in America, I don't think it really works out to our advantage as far as our personal, human politics go like stem cell research, abortion, etc... etc... Politics and Christianity has hardly made well bed-mates with each other (i.e. the Bush presidency) and I don't know where it could begin other than practicing true Christianity, which is just loving people. We can't force other people to agree with us. Me, personally, I don't agree with abortion. Politically, I still have a hard time fitting into my own personal beliefs into what I think is for the good of the common person.

I do agree there's a loving way of making things happen. I think making decisions that don't necessarily DIRECTLY effect certain laws or whatever is a good place to start (like sex education) and could help certain things like abortion become an easier thing to deal with in a political level.

Well said. Probably have to hang out to really hash thru these things and gain an understanding for each other's ideas.
