I'm been thinking alot about financial problems friends or mine are having. Then, as I was looking at those houses I started to wonder what it would be like to actually be able to purchase a $4,000,000 home without having to worry about mortgage notes, insurance and property tax ( Read more... )

If buying a $4m home was equivalent to buying a $40 pair of shoes, then I doubt I would be buying a $4m home. Don't take me wrong, I would want a good house... but i've never been one for going overboard. Depends on the location I guess...

As for rest of my wealth. After setting up family and closest friends for the rest of their lives (not necessarily making them filthy rich but making sure their debts are payed off and they don't need to worry about income for the rest of their lives... eg, trustfund), making sure I have enough to live off comfortably for the rest of my life, I'ld do the philanthropy thing... maybe not so much charity, but community projects, research, things that have a lasting benefit for society in general...

Either that, or buy a small island and turn it into my own country which I would rule with an iron fist...

Do you need someone to help you run your own country? I'm sure I'd be up for the job

I would squirrel half of my money away into CDs or something for the kids... the rest I would spend on a modest mansion, a Caddy, and lots of toys! I'm greedy, but at least I am honest.

Okay, if I had that kind of money, I'd buy a home for Dan and I, a new car (but still an affordable one, like a Kia or something), then set up funds to take care of my mom and dad.
