What have I done?!

Normally I keep ideas to myself. This is so that if they never see the light of day, it tends to be better for all of humanity. If I do share an idea, it tends to be fairly awesome for a small target audience. And normally, nothing comes of it.

However, this time, I may have posted, in public, one of these bad ideas. And this time, it's very likely ( Read more... )

Thanks,I really do appreciate that. I'll definitely come running to you on tricky passages, and such.

Do you know of any good French-English dictionaries out there? I reckon I'm going to need one - I don't recall French lessons at school giving me any useful translations, such as "convict", "sewer", and, oh god I've just remembered the Waterloo digression...

It's going to be fun. I think. :/

Well, I've been using an Oxford Hachette one since high school. The French department at uni recommends one by Harrap, but I'm sure that's partly because it comes with a CD-ROM. There's also online dictionaries, even though they can be a bit of pain.

But yeah, Waterloo sounds like it's going to be lot of fun :-/

*offers French teacher's advice*

So, my French teacher (of the Bastille Day birthday) says that these dictionaries tend to be the best: http://www.bescherelle.com/catalogue2.php?idcoledi=000000016190
Not sure if that's useful at all. I do remember some of the books we had in class having translations for words like "barricade" and such...yeah, I get bored easily...

Or, you could, you know, always disappear entirely. And reappear ten years later...
I can't imagine Abaisse kicking you off the board if you don't finish reading it in French.

Not trying to discourage you, or anything. I have faith...that...if you know what...this isn't going to work is it? Well, you know where I was going. If/when you finish, it'll be awesome. Good luck!
