Season's Change
She used to trust with all of her heart
Until the day she fell apart
Black and blue, she lay in her bed
Wishing that she could be dead
The months passed by, and nothing changed
Her family said she acted strange
She cried herself to sleep at night
Thinking things would never be right
She's over-dramatic, some would say
And slowly the girl withered away
She tried and tried to make them see
This wasn't who she wanted to be
It was his fault but she was blamed
She thought her family was ashamed
They once looked at her with pride and joy
But now she felt like a discarded toy
And then one day, she took a pill
Hoping it would surely kill
Her father beat against the door
While his daughter fell to the floor
Some time later, she awoke
Sadly, she felt her heart was still broke
She knew she couldn't live this way
She’d make things better starting that day
The next few weeks she sorted out
What this pain was all about
She told her family and her friends
She would never do what she did again
She spent her time looking ahead
No longer wishing she was dead
The weeks flew by and finally
She felt she was becoming truly happy
Seasons change, and so does she
She's not the girl she used to be.
She's proud of who she is today,
Even if it's caused her pain.
Her world is new; she's strong and brave
No longer does she feel afraid
And she no longer feels used
Because never again will she be abused
