Ah ahhhhhahahhaha. I loved that Doonsbury so so much. Needless to say, my French teacher got many clippings of it the next day; I think she put it up on her door.

This weekend I went to La Madeleine to eat lunch. They used to greet you with "bonjour" and say "merci" when they hand you the food. It was charming and cute, just like being transported briefly to a little provincial frech cafe. Now, ever since the whole Freedom-Fried broohaha, they say "hello" and strictly speak english. :-(
