Call me crazy, but recently I have been thinking of applying for a phD program in Music Ed for next year. I have the ability to take a year leave from work, now that I have tenure. The problem is finding a reputable program that will be flexible and work with my situation. My other opportunity is to do a nine month Orff course at the Mozarteum ( Read more... )

Congratulations on tenure!! :)

For what it's worth...I would say go to Salzburg. Just to do something COMPLETELY different for a little while. That's just my two cents, though...:) You'll do what is right for you!

Go for it. If a PhD is something you envision for yourself, it makes sense to do it while you're young. And think of the difference in your lifetime earning potential if you get it at 2(5?) as opposed to, say, 40 ...
