I hope you get a the JPS award. Work deserves reward. My band director did not reward me. I was quite miffed, for all I've done and put into the program, I got nothing. He doubled the JPS up with the Arian and gave them both to our drum major/band president, whose attitude is.. just agh. The Arian is one for the person with the highest GPA, as well as best etc. JPS for the smartest person.
I was upset, if only because there were a whopping 6 seniors, and 5 awards to be given out, and I thought it was the ultimate insult he could give, to group me with the band's resident slacker. I'm told I was very good about it, though.. classy enough. So just remember if you don't get it, it's what you think about what you've done, not your band director.
I hope you get the Sousa award! My band director lets the band nominate and vote on it, but then of course she reads the ballots and then chooses whether or not to go with the band's vote. This year out of 21 seniors, I stayed on the ballot for the last vote to be one of the 4 considered for it. I know I'm not getting it though. There's one guy who's had every single brother and sister before him all in band, so he practically grew up in band. There's no way that my bd is letting anyone else but him get that award and yet she's still trying to keep up the illusion of the band voting for it!
