So, life's about to get a whole lot more crazy...

I currently own a business and am also the executive director of a nonprofit organization I created in Ryland's memory.  To run that nonprofit, I decided to go back to school...after getting my master's degree in human services-counseling education, I'm switching gears and getting my PhD in human ( Read more... )

::hugs:: I can't even pretend to know what you've been going through about Ryland. I can't believe it's been almost a year. I'll definitely be praying for you and your family, and I hope you can get through these next few weeks/months without too much extra heartache.

I'll also be praying for Brandon, and please keep us updated on his evaluation results. I had no idea you had spent that much money on the therapy room. I really hope he gets the "label" he needs so that you guys can have some more support.

And last but definitely not least, I'll also be praying for you about your biopsy results. As a side note, just because I'm curious -- what's Celiac Disease? I've never heard of it.

I have a lot of praying to do! ;) Here's hoping you and your family make it through the next few weeks okay.

Jen, they only thought to test me because Brandon was 8 months old and was diagnosed with it (you might remember that he was failure to thrive and tiny tiny--12 lbs at 6 months old). The dietician put him on a gluten free diet and within a couple months he went from the 1st percentile to the 20th, his eczema was gone, and his body was finally big enough for his skin!) It's genetic so after Brandon got diagnosed, they tested me to see if I had it.

Erries...Celiac is an autoimmune disorder. When you eat anything with gluten (wheat, rye, barley, and oats), your body attacks it like it's a virus. It basically ends up destroying your gastrointestinal system--mine is bad enough that I can't absorb many nutrients so I'm badly anemic...

I remembered he was tiny, but i didn't remember he was diagnosed with that. Or maybe i did, but didn't connect the two. lol

So I assume the both of you are on the gluten free diet.

Yep, we sure are. It's a pain in the @$$ though... Seriously--no donuts, do pizza delivery, no cheap chinese food. Bah. But it's better than feeling like a dump truck hit me every time I ate. LOL!
