I'm making shoyu pork for the first time today.  It's a dish I've always loved, but never tried on my own.  So far I know that I need to cut the sugar down by at least half.  I used this recipe for Okinawan style pork, and made a few adjustments.

I see a chef in the making....I should know...the..Bill, the baker. He was not happy with tomato sauce or even spaghetti, but, would eat tomatoes. He did not like certain meats, too. Picky eaters are very creative people and they are the ones who evolve the food world. ~_~.

Sometimes. The other sort of picky eater is the one who eats nothing but Hot Pockets, because that way they always know how the food will taste. My cousin is one of those. He has 10 things he will agree to eat, all packaged, processed foods. He would rather go hungry than bend his will. Ah, the joys of an Aspergers/Autistic brain.

I've often said that Wendall could easily be diagnosed on the Spectrum. (I do not think he should be, and will not have him tested as such!) He has sensory issues, food issues, and a few other markers as well. It makes us very good "spotters" when dealing with new people.

Oh you took from my favorite newspaper, too. Love it.

I'm with Wendall on the "sweet meats" thing ... But I'm sure it was delicious!

It was sooooo good. Way too sweet, but then I prefer spicy at all times. I'll be cutting the sugar out completely the next time I make this. And I will make it with chicken thighs instead.
