Day 1 Theme: Chocolate

Warnings: Some Swearing

The left side of Kanda’s lip was raised in a look of utter disgust. There were many things in this world that he simply could not stand. The disgusting brown liquid his best friend was currently pouring into gaudy heart-shaped molds was definitely high on that list.
Sweets were something he was never able to enjoy. Chocolate wasn’t as bad as some of the others he’d have the misfortune of trying, but it certainly wasn’t something he wanted to eat again.

“Oh. Hey, Yuu,” Alma said with a smile upon noticing the other standing in the entryway. At this point he was pretty used to Kanda making little to no noise when entering a room. When they were little, it used to freak the shit out of him, though.
Kanda didn’t reply. He just stood there, watching Alma pour the chocolate suspiciously, looking like a cat that just knew it was about to be dropped into the bath. Alma couldn’t help but laugh a little.

“What?” Kanda shot, defensively. His eyes were still on the dreaded sweets
.
“It’s just chocolate. You’re not going to die, especially since you’re, like, ten feet away from it.”

“You don’t know that.”

“Yuu, you’re such a baby,” he mumbled more to himself than to Kanda. “This isn’t even as sweet as the usual stuff. It’s dark chocolate.”
He had decided to try using dark chocolate this time around as he was determined to find at least one sweet that Kanda could stand. Maybe something a little more bitter than sweet would suit his tastes. It definitely suited his personality.
“I don’t care. It’s still chocolate,” was, of course, the reply.

Alma scooped up some of the chocolate into a little metal spoon. It wasn’t much, just enough to really taste it. This was a little surprising since usually whenever he wanted Kanda to try something, he used an excess amount that really would make anyone hate the substance--Kanda had resolved to never go within three feet of mayonnaise again; Just the smell of it made him nauseous after that experience…

“Try it,” Alma said, holding the spoon out in front of him.

“No.”

“Yuu-“

“No.”

“If you don’t, I’ll start telling people stories about your childhood. Especially that one of when you tried to cut your own hair-“

“FINE.” The last thing Kanda needed was for anyone to hear those stories. He could endure a little chocolate if it meant that Bean Sprout and Rabbit were still clueless on his stupid childhood experiences.

So, he walked up and took the spoon from Alma’s hand. Reluctantly, he slipped it into his mouth. The chocolate on it had already hardened, so he had to scrape it off with his teeth. He let the chocolate sit on his tongue for a few seconds so that he could judge the taste. Then, he swallowed it quickly, making a face. “I can’t decide if it’s bitter or sweet.”

“Is that a bad thing?”

Shrug.

“Do you hate it or what?”

Pause. Shrug.

“Are you going to answer my questions or not?” Alma’s voice rose, expressing his clear annoyance.
Just because Kanda was having fun with it at this point, he looked Alma in the eye, and he shrugged. Alma didn’t like this very much. Actually, he didn’t like it at all. Instead of telling him aloud like a mature adult would-let’s face it; neither he nor Kanda ever acted like mature adults around each other-he raised the spatula he’d been using and flung the chocolate on it in Kanda’s direction.

Luckly, Kanda blinked; otherwise he’d have the dreaded substance in his eye. Alma was on the verge of laughing his ass off, but Kanda already looked like he was about to kill. He wasn’t exactly sure what his best friend’s next move would be, so it was probably better not to laugh.

Kanda wiped the chocolate off his eyelid before taking a deep breath and shooting his best death glare at Alma. “Oh. It’s on, now.”
He reached for the first food item on the counter near him, which just so happened to be sugar-oh, the irony-took a huge handful, and threw it at Alma. In response, half melted butter was chuck at him. Then, he picked up an egg…

Around fifteen minutes later the entire kitchen looked like a warzone. There was egg, flour, butter, chocolate, etc. everywhere. The two boys were on the ground, laughing so hard that they couldn’t breathe. Kanda’s hair was currently so full of flour that it looked white and Alma’s was still dripping with egg.

“Yuu,” Alma started after their laughter had finally died down. “Did you like it or not?”

“I guess it wasn’t so bad,” Kanda mumbled, “for chocolate.”
