[DCBB 2013] Homes - Art Masterpost

Notes: This was a lot of fun. I started this project being completely unsure if I could even pull something like this off and not have it look like crap, but somehow it... didn't turn out too badly???

Header
(sad Cas is sad.) I did another header image, but it included an arm (sidenote: Misha has very nice hands), and I realised that drawing hands and arms is something that should not to be attempted when one has no idea what one is doing.

Dean in Castiel's office
Castiel's description in this scene really made me jump and go I must draw this!
A few years ago, an electrician showed up to fix a heater or something, and he saw me drawing, and stopped work for like 20 minutes to demonstrate how to use a ruler to make all the edges line up. Bless you, helpful electrician guy, bless you. If only I hadn't completely forgotten about all of that when I started this illustration.
I mean, look at this. All those lines are meant to be directed to one focal point. Lessons learned, I guess. #themoreyouknow

That's Dean's "oh shit" face. I remembered the focal point this time!

First kiss
Pretty sure this scene was meant to be somewhere in a city centre. But... let's imagine there are trees and grass and wooden shacks in the middle of New York, yeah? This kiss scene was pretty emotional, and I love that.

Dean and Cas have a talk in East River Park
I tried to draw a willow tree and failed, and somehow that kind of... merged into this. Hopefully I still captured the gloomy essence of the scene.

This one is a surprise bonus for Camui. (Hope you like it) I'm not sure I got the tattoos perfectly accurate...

Sunset by the river
The final sequence in this fic was absolutely beautiful, I love hopeful endings so much.
Thus, we conclude the masterpost. I feel pretty proud of myself right now. Hurr hurr. =u=
I wanted to draw a ton more stuff for this fic (like ALL of Cas' tattoos, dammit) but I ran out of time.
These were all drawn using GIMP and a cheap Wacom Bamboo tablet with a sensitivity nib that refuses to work, on 800x800px canvases because this laptop has a tiny screen and doesn't like thinking very hard.
Okay, I'm done now. Thanks again to the amazing, lovely Camui for giving me the opportunity to draw for this story, and to the DCBB mods for running this goshdarned awesome project every year. My gratitude is limitless. ♥

Unrelated but, I have another batch of DCBB art coming up, for burdenedbones' story The Mark and The Geas, to be posted on Friday November 8th. It's a vaguely Sleeping Beauty-esque fairytale thing. It's wonderful.
Then, ten days after that (Monday November 18th), I'm posting my own DCBB story, illustrated by themajichan/majestiel. It's called Foxfire Blossom, and it's a flower shop AU, and I'm hella scared/excited/looking forward to that. More info on that here~
