someone snuck into my yard today, ripped up one of my squash plants and buried a peanut in its place. A shelled peanut, right in the hole where the plant had been. Who would do such an odd thing?

I don't know. There must be squirrels around somewhere. I haven't seen any. Why wouldn't a squirrel just bury it, why remove the squash plant first? Do squirrels do that?

maybe the squirrel is getting ready for winter and burying the peanut. he or she probably saw the squash seed and plant and knew that it wouldn't be edible too long and ate it. that's my logic. or jen came over! that would probably make more sense. i really don't know why I still think of possibilities for this scenerio. everyone loves a mystery.......

Okay I see the logic, but there was no squash seed. What do you mean by that?

It was me. Sorry. I came to see you and I chickened out at the last minute. I also had an incredible craving for squash, and a peanut in my pocket.

It happens.

Did you bury anything else in my yard that I should dig for?
