Well, Herself turns 4 a week from tomorrow, and indeed there's been leaps and bounds occurring in the past month or so. In early January she suddenly passed (yet another) quantum mark in verbalness, becoming ever more willing and able to narrate a stream of ideas/thoughts/occurrences.

Then a week ago, out of the blue, she did this:

Wow, the adult-form cognitive phase is striking already.

If she's following the Oz books, that's pretty good. :)

I wouldn't say totally following them; she can't tell the story of a whole book yet (not even a little one, while flipping through it). But something will happen and she will comment upon the stage business, as it were, or remark upon the subject matter in a way that makes clear she's actually grokking it.

Neither have the 7 year old nor the 5.5 year old :-) And quite a lot of the time they are both going on loudly about different subjects, at the same time, both trying to be the one who gets parental attention first.

That being said, the seven year old has discovered the old Star Wars novelizations in our library, took them to his room, and is only emerging when dragged out for meals (he's working on "Return of the Jedi").
