I'm having a mix of emotions right now, and at first I wasn't sure I wanted to post about either of them, the first part because it's spammy and the second because I'm not sure I can properly articulate myself, but recent events in both areas have pushed me to make the post.

First, the good ( Regarding Due South )

ONLY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA.

But, seriously, instead of causing a HUGE DISRUPTION, he should have just STFU and let the security officers escort him from the building.

I generally think that most situations would be improved if people just chilled and stfu. My problem is with the logic that says showing this video on tv is a-ok but so many other things are not.

oh man, I think I've SEEN that video you're talking about, or at least one really similar, when I was watching a documentary on...environmentalists in Washington State, maybe? I think the one I saw was at a logging company, or maybe it was a bank, but it was four or five girls handcuffed to a stump and screaming their heads off when the cops did that to them. I still can't wrap my head around that, it was just so disturbing to watch.

But um... girl!Fraser woo!

I think that's the one. It could have been a logging company. I'd hate to think there were TWO videos like that.

I still can't wrap my head around that, it was just so disturbing to watch.

Yes.

I LOVE GIRL!FRASER SO MUCH.

Thing that gets me is this ... obsession with violence our society has. That it's a ... an curiosity.

That somehow torture is more okay than sex.

(Part of me wants to say that if Kerry had just answered the damn question, which was valid to begin with, that the UF fiasco wouldn't have gone down as it did.)

Yes, you pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

Part of me wants to say that if Kerry had just answered the damn question, which was valid to begin with, that the UF fiasco wouldn't have gone down as it did.

Someone said in a comment to one of the articles that Kerry had said he would answer the question and it was someone with the school who cut the mic.

Oh man, fault's entirely with the school for starting it, with the police for committing the act, and, well, all around and not in any one place at all. And it's sad and confusing. (I want desperately to believe Kerry's being truthful about this, because I like Kerry, hells, I campaigned for him on the level I was capable of back in 04, and there's this voice in my head saying, politician, politician ... )

There's plenty of blame to go all the way around here. I actually hadn't heard anything directly from Kerry- apparently the oiffer to answer the question was before the fiasco part of it started.

It's disgusting the violence encouraged upon children in this country but appreciation of the human form or of love is taboo. That's all. *hugshard*
