Okay, see, what happens is, I got a letter from the city. It seems like after six years (and I did ask when I started!), Vallejo has decided that I need a business license, not just a resale number. For shows? All I'd need is a resale number. To sell over the internet or take commissions? Business license. So I owe them almost $300 in back ( Read more... )

...I don't suppose they're willing to lower the fees since, oh, you DID ask when you started?

We-ell... I asked at City Hall in Sacramento (where I had to go to apply for a resale number) and I asked my father and sister (who both run businesses). It never occured to me to ask anybody in the city I live in, because hey, two other business people I really ought to be able to trust told me "Oh, no, for what you do, you only need this."

Course, now I found out my dad knew and thought we could only have one home-based business under one roof, never told me, and was hoping to keep my business under the table. The whole thing's a massive headache, really.
