Proposition 8

Hokay, any fellow Californians on my FList, I'm posting today to beg you to vote NO on proposition 8, not only because it would make me a sad panda if California banned gay marriage (I mean, who starts their ballot measure out with 'removes the right'? That's just dumb), but because I'm sick of the goddamned ads for it ( Read more... )

ARGH, yes. When we were driving back home from the airport yesterday, I kept seeing all these

Prop 8=Freedom of Speech
Prop 8=Religious Freedom

signs. They had me spitting mad- as wel as my dad. He doesn't quite believe that gay marriages are right ('what they do in their own bedroom is between them and god), but he firmly believes that EVERYONE should have equal protection under the law. Including them. These 'yes on 8' commercials and other propaganda that are making up things, and are 'simply wrong' (his words) are just ticking him off.

Oh, man. I don't think I'll be able to sleep on Tues night unless all the final votes are in and counted, and I know how it went.

I can't stop being pissed off about the Yes on 8 campaign in general. Five million dollars in funding from the Mormon church, plus they were extorting businesses who made donations to No on 8 campaigns-- demanding an equal donation or they'd make public that they or their company donated 'against traditional marriage.' Not to mention the lies, the assumption that the California public school system works exactly like the Massachusetts public school system (hah! I bet the Mass system works BETTER), the absolutely insipid 'Think of the children!' advertising...

At least we've got Samuel L Jackson narrating a No on 8 commercial now.
