"cut students? deny them the opportunity to play in a musical ensemble? the idea seems so absurd to me now, even though i grew up in a heavily auditioned and heavily competitive band environment. it all seems so silly now."

I feel better about the world knowing that people like you will be the music teachers and band directors of tomorrow. I wish I'd had someone like you as a band director when I was still in school, pre-Butler.
