A tutorial request by
chibichan91. Because I feel I bore you with Kingdom Hearts tutorials, I'm using a base of Maron today~! In celebration of me finishing the manga, woot. (though it comes out with exactly the same effect, so no worries).
Today we are going to turn this:
into this:
For PSP8 & higher, translatable.
1. First off, take your base, resize it, all the good stuff. I'm using this one of
Maron.
2. Duplicate your base and set it to screen, 100%.
3. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top, and set it to softlight, 100%. On the same layer, go to Adjust -> Hue and Saturation -> Hue/Saturation/Lightness (or Shift+H for the lazy people among us *points to self*) and set the saturation to -100. Set the Lightness to -10.
4. Duplicate your desatured soft light layer.
5. Create a new layer, and fill it with #060A27 (
). Set this layer to exclusion, 100%.
6. Create a new layer, and fill it with #E5DBC3 (
). Set this layer to multiply, 100%.
7. Remember that old desaturated soft light layer of the base? (the one you made before adding the two layers in steps 5 and 4?) Well, duplicate that and drag it above the two layers you've just created.
8. Duplicate your base and drag it to the top. Set it to softlight, 100% (do not desaturate this layer!)
9. Create a new layer and fill with #D0846A (
). Set this layer soft light. Depending on what colour you want your icon, depends on the opactiy of the layer. For this one it's on 60%, for Namine's it's on 100%, Aerith's is also 60 as is Daisuke's. From personal use, I've found having over 50% gives a good effect.
10. Tada~! You're officially done.
Feel free to add text and all the other usual stuff on your finished icon.
Other icons made with this effect:
Feel free to take any of the three icons, but don't forget to comment! Please comment on your opinions, and ask any questions if you had any. I'd love to see your results!
And now, I shall go off to the wonderous place known as dream-land. Goonight all~
