Unfinished Untitled SGA Kitten AU

I started this SGA kitten AU months ago, wrote 4K and then promptly stalled out on it. Not sure I'll ever finish it, so I decided to just post what I have.

G-rated. Warnings for cat abandonment by family and humans.

Yes! This is where I first used it. And now I want to use it in EVERY STORY I WRITE. :D

Kitties! They are so adorable! Rodney is so grumbly all the time even if the humans don't understand a word of it. His "rational infatuation" with Sam makes me smile. And John is so clever and responsible! <33

Now I'm a little worried about what Rodney would do with computer and internet access. ;)

Genius though he is, I don't think even Rodney could manage to use the keyboard to write anything coherent with his paws. Plus Sam's laptop would be very distracting because mmm, warm. Every time he sat on the laptop to compose something, he'd get warm and cozy and doze off. :D

That pretty much works as a cohesive story, though I would like to see what happens when Elizabeth takes them home after Sam heals up, since we're told that's going to happen. Rodney would see it as being sent to a metaphorical Siberia, but he'd come to respect Elizabeth, I'm sure. He'd grow to see her as an esteemed colleague... but would make a fool of himself every time Sam stopped by.

For a second, I didn't realize this was an animal AU... I thought you were making a joke about plot kittens vs. plot bunnies! Excellent AU characterizations, though there's a whole other story in Sam's Daniel comment!

Well, in my head what comes next is John and Rodney escaping outside to meet Teyla and Ronon, and the four of them battling a nest of Iratus bugs (I figured that'd be the kitten-scale equivalent of Wraith) and then eventually Elizabeth would adopt all four of them. :-) And Rodney wouldn't need the approval of humans as much once he realized that he had three real friends of his own kind.

Awwww! I suppose they escape because Elizabeth came to claim them, and Rodney desperately wants to return to his beloved Sam, so John grudgingly goes with him because he can't let Rodney leave on his own!
