A hibiscus is a tropical flower - it is shapes sort of like a vase, but the petals open very wide. I agree with you that the flower names are somewhat annoying, but I suppose it could be worse. Welcome.

Yes. Petunia is one of the more annoying flower names, however, I can think of worse ones. Such as 'Daisy,' or 'Poppy.'
