I've given myself a challenge to write a multi-chaptered fic.
My first multi-chapter fic.
I'm pretty nervous about this actually '>.<, I had a dream about this, and when i woke up, my hands were itching to make this a story.
Well, I hope you enjoy it.
Heartbeat Chapter1
Pairing: Sakumoto
Rating: Will go up as things heat up
A/N: Italics are Jun talking to himself in his mind.
The doors open and the smell of sterile medical equipment flood my senses.
"6 A.M., double shift, shoot me. Please."
Well, thats no one's fault but my own. I agreed with the charge nurse the night before that I would take a double shift.
"Clubbing late into the night before though, was not in the plan." Sighing, I first head over to the staff kitchen to get some of that never ceasing black energy, also known as coffee for those outside of the medical world. Per usual, The "heated" conversations that are going on by my fellow female nurse colleagues quiet down as I enter the room, and lingering eyes watch me along with a flood of "hellos".I've heard throughout the ward, that I'm well liked by those nurses because I have a "mysterious yet alluring" quality to me."Hey, whatever helps them sleep at night." I say to myself as I get my coffee and attempt to join into their conversation, but it's nothing but gossip and about their crushes on other fellow co-workers. "I'm a nurse by choice, but I didn't know mind numbing conversation came with the package." I flash them all a smile as I head over to the nurse's station to grab my clipboard with today's assignment. "Well, let's see what await-
YES!
YES!
YES!
I'm on for my double shift with Skaurai Sensei today! Ah, Sakurai Sensei, the rags to riches story. He spent his last dollar to attend medical school and it all payed off, seeing as he's now the biggest doctor in all of Tokyo."
I've worked with him for a few months now, and I can say that he's my inspiration, the reason I even stay here in the med business. Working side by side with him makes me want to work my hardest.
"And he's good looking to boot."
"Ah, Just the person I was looking for." I'm driven out of my daydream by said doctor. Flipping though his clipboard, he gives a nod of approval. "We have a lot on our hands today." He then looks up and smiles." Oh how your smile kills me."
The next twelve hours are borderline deadly. I think I shifted from surgery to surgery, but they all seemed like one blur.I was running on empty by the fifth surgery, but Sakurai Sensei's alertness, skill and accuracy in the O.R. never faded.
As I head out of the hospital, the silent sounds and coolness of the night hit me instantly.I breath in the cool air and sigh instantly. "Another days work gone, another night of clubbing awaits." There's a swift brush of cool air as Sakurai Sensei suddenly approaches me outside of the entrance, another dazzling smile on his face.
" Nice work today Matsumoto-san, but you seemed a little "in space" at times." He says with a chuckle.
"I know.. looking at you is hard work." I let out a small laugh. "Lack of sleep does that to me, but I assure you that it won't happen again." "Way to go Jun, you went into Sakurai la-la land again."
"That's all right, it's nice working with someone who's laid back like you, I enjoy the change of pace."
"Did he just openly compliment me? Keep it professional Jun, don't wanna look like a hyper junior high girl." "Why, thank you, it's nice working with you as well."
"Safe."
He gives one look at his watch and apologizes to me saying he should head out since he has another long day tomorrow. He wishes me a good night, and we both go our separate ways.
That night at the club isn't the same. Even the bar tender notices my somber mood as he hands me another tequila shot. "Everything all right hun, your not denominating the dance floor yet, and you look like a sick puppy." I look up at him and wave my hand. "No, I'm fine, just thinking, thats all." He gives me a questioning look then heads over to the other side of the bar to attend to more customers. I look at the dance floor and see everyone getting lost in the beat, half of them will probably go home with their "partners" tonight. I have done the same on many an occasion.
And then I realized.
I need something new.
Something more.
Something stable.
My thoughts revert back to Sakurai Sensei.
"You're now officially stuck in my head."
Show some love?
